Mental health is a big issue for children and adolescents. In any given year, 1 in 5 young people aged 13-18 experience a mental health disorder. And yet, only about 20% of these young people receive treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are many different types of mental health disorders that can affect children and adolescents, including anxiety disorders, depression, conduct disorder, and attention-deficit\/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Some of these disorders can be quite serious and even lead to suicide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s important to get help if you think your child is struggling with a mental health disorder. There are many effective treatments available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you think your child is struggling with a mental health disorder, call a mental health professional or encourage them to get help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If your child is getting mental health treatment, help them stick to their treatment plan. This may include things like going to therapy or taking medication. It\u2019s important to follow through with treatment in order for it to be effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Make sure you are there for your child. Show them support and understanding. Let them know you love them and that you will help them get through this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s also important to take care of yourself if you are supporting a child with a mental health disorder. Taking care of yourself will help you be better able to take care of your child. If you need support, there are many resources available, such as support groups for parents of children with mental health disorders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
